The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring Film Analysis

The lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is an adventure, adaptation, action or a fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson and released in the year two thousand and one. It is an epic adventure in prehistoric times that contrasts the moral vs. malicious forces and role of unity and self-ambition in an expedition to liberate mankind. It figures out the encounters of Dark Lord Sauron who is in search of the diabolical ring in Middle-earth world which had been lost centuries earlier.

In this world, the lifestyles of its occupants resemble that of the Europeans in the periods of Dark Ages. Dark Lord Sauron is cruel and his dynasty is unwanted and as long as he is in possession of the ring, he will maintain his power and continue to enslave mankind (00:02). Unexpectedly, Frodo Baggins, a young Hobbit (Hobbits resemble humans although they are less in size) possess it and collectedly nine warriors compose The Fellowship of the Ring and goes to Mount Doom in Modor to do away with the ring.

Frodo is a Hobbit who is calm and has good intentions thus, he has to destroy the ring since Sauron’s “life force is bound to the ring and the ring survived, Sauron has returned, his orcs have multiplied,… they are one, the ring and the Dark Lord… He must never find it” (00: 39).

Frodo possess the magic ancient ring which has ability to bestow power any person that touches it. Gandalf, a sorcerer, becomes aware of the whereabouts of the ring and since it negatively affects everyone who touches it, it has to be put into destruction. This has to occur in the deep fires of Mount Doom and failure to so would result into a menace where the entire society would become subjects of wickedness and hence, great misery.

Ring-wraiths which are wicked powers engage in a mission to seize the magic ring from Frodo. Fortunately, Frodo meets a fearless man called Strider and these compose a team of nine men whose fellowship pursues a mission to put the ring into destruction. The mission is not any easier since the Fellowship have to resist forcefully the cruel creatures that want to repossess the ring.

The creatures kill two fellowship warriors while other two are kidnapped (03:08). They freeze due to glacier, have to bear the darkness through the woodlands, waterways and grasslands encountering bad omens but never give up. The other five warriors left divide into two and this mission becomes increasingly hard. Finally, Frodo and another Hobbit determines to destroy the magical ring and this signifies that the reign of the Dark Lords will be terminated (Jackson, 2001).

The lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is stunningly cinematic and knowledgeably appealing. It is shot in unique and dazzling environment which helps the view to vividly figure out the encounters. The film features a grandiose décor which reveals the creativity of the director through electronic arts and modern-day cinema technology. The settings and costumes reveal great deal of artistic values. The various spectacular environments enhance imagination and this makes the story impressive.

The costumes have both medieval and modern which adds up to the story’s functionality. The background music is moving and reminds of emotional acuity of the filmmaker.

The journey through the Middle-earth and the epic pursuit in Mount Doom is exhilarating as the filmmaker employs various tricks such as miniatures, illusory camera viewpoints, site shooting, and inspiring set plan and lusterless images. He utilizes computer graphics but with a less synthetic presence. This reveals visionary style especially when the colors are hushed and it appears dusk which emphasizes the struggle between supernatural and real forces.

Peter Jacksons accomplishes an aim that is hardly depicted by present filmmakers of a similar genre since he is able to give the film a sense of fanciness and suspense. The film is rhythmical and imaginatively gives the audience a sense of real epic. The digital cinematography is quite clear and no obstructions are made deliberately to conceal unreasoned themes and depraved acting.

CGI animations are used in the film which permits each animated cast to perform autonomously to portray a delusion of realism especially in the fights (03:08). It has a grand scope and this perfectly accompanies the visuals. The villain is awarded with traits of striking qualities that portray his heroism. He expresses the alteration from a small hobbit that is lighthearted into a hero whose destiny of mankind rests upon.

Gandalf on the other hand is seen as susceptible and compassionate character, while the other cast gives out their positions with modesty and complete persuasion that is unique to constantly engage the audience. A particular illusion created through digital technology is the setting the right scale for all characters to assume proper statures such as that of the hobbits which are portrayed as a miniature.

The film incorporates comicalness, desire and tragedy in a balanced manner to leave the audience with a feeling of splendor, scope and a strong sense of an obstructing disaster. The lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring film is a momentous epic fantasy particularly the motion pictures which gives a quality form of family entertainment.
